Tim Benge started studying trumpet at age 9 and knew from an early age that he was dedicated to a career in music. Since that time, Dr. Benge has accumulated over 49 years of experience as a trumpeter, conductor, and educator. This includes 25 years teaching in the high schools, colleges, and universities in southern California as well as many years as a professional performer in symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles. A veteran of numerous national and international performing tours, his trumpet studio is growing quickly, and his clinic work for local high schools continues to be in demand.


Dr. Benge is also very active in the nonprofit arts world. He serves as Vice-President of the Southwest Music Education Association which in turn serves over 120 high schools and 10,000 high school students in providing various types of competitions. He says, "The investment in the next generation of professional and amateur musicians is essential to maintaining our culture."


Tim Benge earned his B.M at CSULB, his Master degree in Trumper from the University of Redlands, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Southern California. Dr. Benge also holds CA Teaching and Administrative credentials. He enjoyed the priviledge of studying trumpet with Jimmy Stamp, Joan LaRue, Robert Rithaler, Don Hamilton and David Washburn.
